Goal to Goal: Diamondback

It’s possible to jump from one goal to the next in Diamondback by using Shock Cannon Assisting. This one was fairly difficult to figure out the specifics so it could be recreated, but once we did, we found it was easy enough to do over and over.

Requirements

2 Players able to communicate (TeamSpeak or live)
Player 1 - Jumper - Has the Speed upgrade equipped (Level 27)
Player 2 - Launcher - Has the Shock Cannon weapon equipped (Level 40)

Tank Positioning

The positioning of the two tanks ended up being the most important factors. If the Launcher wasn’t lined up correctly, then the Jumper often drove too far away for the Shock Cannon to reach the Jumper… or even more miserable, the Jumper would boost right into the Launcher, knocking them both off the ledge in a glorious pile of fail.

Launcher Position

The Launcher equips Shock Cannon and drives up to the ledge. On the riveted metal texture that borders the ledge, find the line that (if continued) would bisect the two goals symmetrically. Position your tank directly to the right or left of this line, with just enough room for a tank to drive across the bisecting line without running into you. Rotate your tank so you are facing the opposite goal, then turn your turret in toward the bisecting line about 5 degrees.

Jumper Positioning

The Jumper has the ball (hopefully) and drives up the ramp as if trying to score on themselves. Boost directly over the center of your goal mound, aiming directly for the center of the opposing goal. This should line you up with the center line that the Launcher has cleared for you.

Execution

Jumper: Boost all the way up to the ledge, and at the last moment possible, jump as if you were going to jump to the opposing goal. You’ll get knocked around, but will most likely land right on the opposite ledge. Drive (boost if you have any left) up the edge so you don’t falls off backwards. Don’t get too disoriented, because you’ll need to drive the ball into the goal.

Launcher: It’s all about timing. Listen for the Jumper’s tank as he’s boosting up behind you, and hopefully have some vocal communication letting you know when he’s coming… because he comes fast. Once he’s actually jumped, but is still close enough to be within your Shock Cannon’s radius, fire your weapon directly at him. You’ll hit him from behind and give him quite a bit of horizontal boost. At this point, you’ve done your job. However, if he doesn’t make it, be ready to drive down and help him fend off the other team.
