Goal to Goal: Burnside
Originally part of a Challenge Post, it ended up being a lot easier than expected. In fact, I’m surprised I haven’t seen people do this one during a live game. Essentially, we found that it’s very easy to launch a ball runner from their goal into the opposing teams goal very quickly and easily.
Requirements
2 Players able to communicate (TeamSpeak or live)
Player 1 - Jumper - Has the Speed upgrade equipped (Level 27)
Player 2 - Launcher - Has the Shock Cannon weapon equipped (Level 40)
Tank Positioning
I’ll assume with the effectiveness of Shock Cannon Assisting that this positioning is not the only option that works. However, to simplify the explanation process, I’ll just explain what we did. Let us know in the comments of other tank positions that worked for you.
Launcher Position
The Launcher drives to the inside edge of the goal platform (the edge closest to the opposing goal), and positions his tank near one of the corners that juts outward. Be sure to give the Jumper enough room to blast past you and toward the opposing goal without running into you. Also, be sure to get close enough to the corner so that the Jumper will be in range of your Shock Cannon when he jumps.
Jumper Positioning
The Launcher is lined up so you can drive to the corner of the goal platform and jump as if jumping to the opposing goal by yourself. So when you come around the corner onto your own goal platform, you’ll need to trust that he’ll be there or you’ll not have enough speed to make the jump.
Execution
Jumper: Drive onto your own goal platform with the ball, and boost as soon as you can safely maneuver. Boost to the inside corner of the platform and jump as if you were going to make the jump by yourself, aiming straight for the opposing goal. The Launcher will hit you with his Shock Cannon and knock you around a bit, so don’t get disoriented. Once you’ve landed, head for the goal and score, as you’ll probably not have a lot of competition.
Launcher: It’s all about timing. Listen for the Jumper’s tank as he’s boosting up behind you, and hopefully have some vocal communication letting you know when he’s coming… because he comes fast. Once he’s actually jumped, but is still close enough to be within your Shock Cannon’s radius, fire your weapon directly at him. You’ll hit him from behind and give him quite a bit of horizontal boost. At this point, you’ve done your job. However, if he doesn’t make it, be ready to drive down and help him fend off the other team.
