Shock Abuse Challenge - Challenges

To kick off the Grand Opening of MD|TV, we’re sporting a community challenge! What’s a community challenge you ask? Well, it’s getting the community as a whole to work together on a single goal. Maybe it’s to figure out a tricky strategy, or maybe it’s to get some footage from everyone and their vast pool of experience. Either way, it’ll be sure to result in some cool discussion.

So, this challenge is focused on Shock Cannon abusing! Every once in a while you’ll get hit with a Shock Cannon and just FLY! Or even more spectacular, you’ll see someone get hit with a Shock blast that launches them straight up in the air and then destroyed by someone else’s guns in mid-air 50 feet above everyone else. Epic tank fireworks!

The challenge is to get as much SICK footage of Shock Cannon abuse as possible. The more intense, the better. I want to see tanks flying, aight? Here’s some stuff I grabbed from a single runthrough. Some of it’s alright… but it could be so much cooler.

So post your youtube links below, and we’ll see what you guys can get. I’m looking forward to editing the best ones into a sweet montage of pure Shock Abuse.

To record footage, I recommend one of three programs:
PlayClaw - My personal favorite because it has a pre-record feature so that you can hit a button after something cool has happened, and record only the good parts. Has a free trial of unlimited record time, but plaster the obnoxious moving water mark on your screen.

FRAPS - The original standard. Has a free trial with limited recording time and a fairly unobtrusive watermark.

Bandicam - I haven’t used this one personally, but it’s getting some really good reviews. Also has a decent free trial.

Shock Cannon Wall Jumping - Challenges

We’ve had a little bit of success jumping people over walls using Shock Cannon Assisting, but it’s been really hard breaking it down to recreate it. Until it’s re-createable, it’s not really a viable tactic to be used on teams. Here’s a video of the ONE time we were able to make it work. Check it out.

We tried this over and over for about 20 minutes, and only actually did it successfully once. Because we were using PlayClaw to record it, we were able to capture the one time we managed to make it happen (I loooove the pre-record feature). One person had Shock Cannon, and the other person had Speed so he could jump. The person with Speed boosted at the person with the Shock Cannon and then jumped as if jumping over his head. The person with the Shock Cannon hit them at about the exact same time they jumped, launching the person over the wall. So we know it’s POSSIBLE to do it…

We tried to jump this wall in particular because we wanted to jump over a small wall first. Amazingly, he launched over the tall part of the wall when we got it to work. So I guess this could be used anywhere! You could jump onto boost tunnels and all sorts of cool stuff like that.

So, can anyone else get this to work?! I want to get it figured out.

Jump The Gap - Challenges

The Problem

In the map Burnside, the easiest route from the Ball Spawn location up to the goal is to go through the Blue Shield. Using the shield to lose the enemy gives you some extra time to shoot for the goal. However, you’re coming from the opposite side of the map. The other option is to travel around the Red Shield so that you’re closer to the opponents goal when you turn the corner.

The Challenge

I think it’d be cool to use the Speed upgrade, and just jump from the Blue Goal to the Red Goal. As far as I can tell, it’s not possible by yourself. But maybe it’s possible with some help from a team mate? Watch the video below and put your thoughts in the comments.
